(1) #TaosCompound New Mexico case updates thread starting 8/16/18.

Please read my initial thread about one aspect of the case:

If you are familiar with NM law & politics, please add any relevant info below. Sources, links, documents etc preferred.
(2) In my initial thread linked above, I didn't say that the prosecution had a full 10 days between the raid of the compound on 8/3 and the bond hearing on 8/13. This makes their poor performance even less excusable.
(3) AFAIK, the 3 defendants eligible to be released once conditions are met remain in detention as of today. It is looking increasingly difficult for them to satisfy the housing condition, but their attorneys are working on it. Honestly I'd stay inside if I were them, for safety.
(4) The 3 year old boy whose remains were found at the compound has now been formally identified as the son of one of the defendants. This process takes a lot of time; people have been too impatient.

Evidence of how he died will also take time. LEOs are doing their best.
(5) Readers familiar with my work will know how much I use Occam's Razor: The centuries-old principle that the simplest explanation is usually the best one.

Withdrawing the child's epilepsy meds alone could have caused his death. Getting ANY usable evidence could be hard.
(6) Regardless of any ritual reported by the older children, the jury will have to decide whether & how much that led to his death, & how much weight to give the childrens' testimony.

The prosecution owes him & the public the best work they can do. They must lift their game.
(7) I've seen dozens of @GOP candidates in NM tweet against Judge Backus, despite her Order having been publicly available for days (Here: kob.com/kobtvimages/re…)

Now the @NewMexicoGOP has RTd this inflammatory & inaccurate tweet.

Please reconsider, for the good of #MAGA.
(8) I support the @NewMexicoGOP & if I was eligible to vote there I'd vote Red all the way down the ballot. But this stance on the #TaosCompound case is catnip for Dems.

Please urgently seek legal advice on interpreting the court filings to date. And contact @GOPChairwoman.
(9) I didn't want to have to spell this out in public but I've waited long enough for signs the @NewMexicoGOP has reconsidered its stance on the Court's decision.

This misguided stance violates what President Trump & the GOP stand for.

POTUS & Judge Kavanaugh on 7/13/18:
(10) Adhering to the core principles the President and Judge Kavanaugh spoke about in the above comments is a non-negotiable for me and millions of other supporters.

This is not an ultimatum, it's a reminder. And a plea to rectify the damage ASAP. Admit the mistake & move on.
(11) The prosecution in this case is part of the executive branch of New Mexico, currently (& hopefully in future) headed by a @GOP Governor.

Instead of falsely accusing the judicial branch, how about reviewing the performance of the exec branch, or at least staying neutral.
(12) I realize it's tempting to link the case to the wider issue of bail law reform but candidates should've resisted that temptation.

For example, the Court Order explains why none of the below factors could've changed its decision.

(13) OK back to the news updates. NBC has detailed new and earlier coverage; some links:

No one seems to ask why prosecutors failed to provide adequate evidence on 8/13.
(14) The local TV station video recorded the 3.5 hour hearing and it's available on their FB page here: facebook.com/KOBTV/videos/2…

I prefer transcripts and affidavits so I will keep looking. But if anyone has the time and patience to watch this atm, be my guest.
(15) Thanks a bunch, everyone. Did I try to warn you? Yes, I did.

I will have some commentary on this article and the prosecution documents tomorrow.

Public figures should call off the hounds right now.

(16) Apparently the NM legislature would rather a DA's main online information portal be a Facebook page than vote them funding for a professional website.

Here are some of the #TaosCompound #AmaliaCompound court filings. My comments to come later.

(17) A further primary source I found today was the 2016 election results in Taos County, NM. Scroll down for Judges & DA.

My suggestion, Toas County, is to #WalkAway.

(18) Correction: The prosecutor is an elected DA, not strictly speaking a part of the NM state executive. That doesn't negate the main point, though. The Governor needs to amend her statement about the case.

(20) Trying to follow the #TaosCompound case is getting bigger than Ben Hur for me! But that won't put me off. I need help from others, so please DM me if you can help (& if you can't DM, send me a tweet.)

(21) This page out of the prosecution case on 8/13 has a ton of useful info. I'm putting it here to stimulate interest, but have only started processing the info. I won't be able to answer questions on it yet.

(22) The workload pressure I feel re the #TaosCompound case is growing daily. I have checked, and there have been no major developments since Friday. AFAIK, the 3 defendants still eligible for release continue trying to find bail addresses that meet the Judge's conditions. So...
(23) The public continues to be protected from the 3 defendants in the meantime. Being able to meet the Judge's bail conditions & be released (to specified, surveillable addresses, with GPS & other LE monitoring) is a tall order. Panic is not required.
(24) Misinformed people continue to claim all kinds of unsupportable things to me in response to these two threads of mine.

You need to support your claim with evidence, I have done with mine.

I use the same rule no matter who the defendants are.

If you don't, why not?
(25) Earlier I promised to review and report on certain documents. I'm working on that. However, I seem to be missing my army of elves who can make the shoes from the leather & other things I lay out for them each night.

Payback for not believing in the supernatural, I guess.
(26) A typical example of the rhetoric atm. If you show actual evidence of jihadists compounds, I will be pleased bc I will have something tangible to look into. But vague references are not worth a thing to me.

Besides, Waco was solely the fault of Bill Clinton & Janet Reno.
(27) The reasons for Waco are very similar to the reasons for the death of the 3 yo boy in Amalia, NM. Delusional/magical anti-science beliefs, attached to religion (they don't have to be). Such people are unfit to be allowed responsibility for children. Rescuing kids is hard.
(28) FWIW, the Taos Co. Sheriff's Dept deserves credit for its raid in Amalia not ending up like Waco. Lessons learned.

You can't outlaw religion. You can't outlaw thought crimes such as fundamentalist beliefs. You can outlaw delusional adults being around small children.
(29) It's time to start thread #3, and an overarching thread (below) that will have links to each thread in this series. Gonna be a long ride.
