@tommy_pane My gut instinct is to go hard at your assertion. I find it, frankly, absurd. But, also curious...As I suppose you find mine, which would start w a basic agreement on Bush&Co, think Obama an very imperfect attempt to correct things, w notable successes & equally notable failures
@tommy_pane While finding Trump a near perfect, or complete, poisen to a system - society - that has become so corrupted (in the large sense) that it can actually bear a Trump and consider such a person/system as he brings to bear as anything like a solution.
@tommy_pane I am not certain that we can find a handle to this discussion in a twitter context. Trump is at best - and I mean At Best - an incompetent who has managed to get himself instantiated into the seat of power like none before him, & is using that seat to enrich himself and others
@tommy_pane that’s at best. And we may be glad to be rid of him sometime, and hopefully we can recover. At worse he is actively antithical to the Country, maybe being a conduit for some serious treason...(I said maybe, hope not, but ithe fact it is not outside the realm of possibility is a
@tommy_pane a problem. A serious problem. There is no president in history that you could reasonably ask that question and remain uncertain of the answer. That aside, we'd have to go to policies & people to get this worked out...
So...
@tommy_pane Having spoken my conclusions: Outside of Syria, which I think is a consequence of Bush&Co...What about Obama Admin do you find so absolutely horrible? He fixed a GOP induced financial crisis - One that Trump is again working hard w the GOP to unwind every policy meant to stop
@tommy_pane the next one. One that experts all around are beginning topoint out is looming again because of these efforts. The Tax Cut was a 2T transfer of money from the future to the present and a shell game in how it was sold. Whatever any individual merits of reducing corporate rates
@tommy_pane might have - & I think it is arguable - it is not really arguable any more that the paltry 1-2k "gift" that Ryan and others so trumpeted as being meaningful for the "middle class" is balanced in anyway by where the buld of that tax cut benefit went. Argue the policy...sure.. but
@tommy_pane how this one was done, imposed on the nation, withoutut any substantial discussion or consideration of any othe factors or ideas just raw power is itself, on its own indictment enough about this president and his complicit party. Should we move to the near comprehensive breaking
@tommy_pane of nearly all of his campaign promises? The blatant demagoguery is something to behold. Breath taking actually. And the shameless lying to his supporters faces about the benefits he was bringing them to the reality is another bit to explore. And none of this get to the basic
@tommy_pane immorality of the man. He is, in my opinion, unfit of the office at quite literally every level: He violates the countries secrets In The Oval Office! Does not keep the country informed of what he is doing, promising to others. Russia, NK, and now it seems his undetailed
@tommy_pane agreements w Mexico. The unilateral and universally condemned by both parties and non partisans alike of his many not just ignorant but stupid decisions, like tariffs and trade wars, belie the fiction that he is "a really smart business man". He is a very good at taking care
@tommy_pane of himself and a few others in his family. His devotion to the country is a façade. I think he has demonstrated that beyond simple wild accusation. And etc. It is not being Anti-Trump no matter what , but a rational evaluation of the overall impact that has precious few
@tommy_pane redeeming points. And I haven't even got to children in cages. His being an international boor and becoming a pariah. Nor the entire investigation and whatever that portends. So... there you go. Match that with anything Obama did. Better, refute me on the facts if you can.
@tommy_pane I am open to seeing things differently. But not out of the hagiography that passes for much of what I see in Trump supporters. Meaning, "I am a Trump supporter no matter what he does because he does X for me".
Oh.I forgot the recent Tricks he is pulling on coal minors
@tommy_pane Sorry, sort of, for the outburst. I think it serious enough to engage, but also important enough to cut through the BS and get to the underlying foundations of things. If possible. I am not hopefull but will try.
