Lost in the fevered GOP rhetoric that there is a proverbial time-bomb counting down on the Kavanaugh nomination:

FACT: the FBI investigated Anita Hill’s allegation.

FACT: Trump nominated Kavanaugh in July 9, 2018. Dr. Christine Blasey Ford sent a letter expressing her experience to her US Representative and to one of her US Senators in JULY.
What hasn’t changed since 1991: the Senate Judiciary Committee has no policy or procedure in place to investigate such a claim, DESPITE the Senate’s Constitutional role of “advise and consent.”
What hasn’t changed in the good-ol’-boys GOP network: A FRIEND OF THE NOMINEE IS DECIDING WHICH OF HIS WRITTEN-WHILE-GOV’T EMPLOYEE DOCS SHOULD BE MADE PUBLIC.
What hasn’t changed in the make-haste-because-transparency-would-deep-six-this-nomination: SCHEDULING A HEARING BEFORE THE NATIONAL ARCHIVES CAN PROCESS DOCUMENTS.
The Senate National Archives does not expect to complete its review until THE END OF OCTOBER yet the Committee went ahead with its hearing.

Whitaker's op-ed was "highly critical of a candidate, and he ought not to be doing that, because it’s a political partisan comment."

Whittaker founded his Section 501c3 NFP in 2015.

This is a key point to jurists that I think many "civilians" don't quite get. We've gotten used to conflating ideology with party affiliation in the US, in an intellectually lazy way — but in the judicial branch, the distinction is CRITICAL. It's the only branch where ideas… /1

I said this yesterday and I'll say it again today: Democrats are legitimizing #Kavanaugh by not walking out.

They should release a joint statement that until the #Mueller and #Cohen matters are resolved, Trump cannot appoint a #SCOTUS justice.
The GOP is hellbent on pushing the #KavanaughConfirmation through. If Democrats walked out and he were seated, he'd have far LESS legitimacy on the bench than if they went through the motions of what they called a "sham" proceeding.
No matter how sharp their questions, no matter how much they protest the rules and procedures and document dumps, Dems are ENABLING THE GOP in brazen court-stacking. Republicans STOLE #MerrickGarland's seat and are shoving rightwing justices through. WHY ARE DEMS PLAYING ALONG?
