Today's extraordinary developments would appear to increase the chances that President Trump will move to fire Rosenstein, the deputy attotney general - who appointed special counsel Robert Mueller last year. Here are a few important points:
1) Trump cannot fire Mueller (technically at least)
2) But he CAN fire Deputy Atty Gen Rosenstein
3) Congress - under Republican control unti at least January - can impeach anyone it wants for whatever lawmakers consider an impeachable offense

4) Axing Rosenstein - which seems more likely today - would allow Trump to nominate a replacement who could then stop Mueller's investigation
5) The United States is in a crisis - the likes of which has never been seen. This is different, in key respects, from Watergate
