Grassroots members who heard PM not convinced by Chequers, but want to stay loyal to PM and not impressed by Operation Boris and “deranged”, want to give her a chance after she said EU had to respond to her plans... one said “till October” - which is tomorrow.
Mood 2:
Two Tory MPs in Birmingham have now volunteered their fears about the effectiveness of that slick Labour ad/video on towns “Our Town” - being discussed on the Whatsapp group
Mood 3:
Surprised by presence of more than a few Tories at nearby “People’s Vote” march - thought it would be mainly Libdems... adamant what appears self evident - theyve entirely lost their party - can be overturned... Number of their MPs backing is creeping up, tho still small.

EU sources say there will be “no summit” and there are “no actual talks”, some discussions on reassurances. Another diplomatic source tells me even those will not come before the vote next week. /1
Still not entirely sure whether the Meaningful Vote debate that resumes tomorrow will be the continuation of the one curtailed last month or a new one. Former more likely. Would have to make special provision for previous speakers to speak again /2
Tory MPs who attended the Downing St drinks were expecting a bit of a rousing unity speech from PM - surprised there wasn’t one at all even “none of you will be back here” type cajoling. On the way out none I spoke to had changed mind.

... Tory 22 include Spelman, Boles, Soames, Letwin, Vaizey, Keegan, ex Trade Minister Garnier, Trade Envoy R Graham... more than enough rebels to win vote. As opposing No Deal is manifesto policy of Labour, LDs, Plaid, SNP and Greens it seems highly likely there’s a Commons maj..
At this stage the 209 MPs are
162 Labour,
22 Tory,
18 SNP,
5 Lib Dem
and 4 Plaid.

Meanwhile the first stages of “Operation Fennel” which we reported last month are now taking place - @TomBoadle has obtained this DfT letter about live testing Manston Airport Monday as another lorry park, in addition to 13 miles of M20 AND the M26 for No Deal Brexit disruption
Here is Operation Fennel - storing 10,000 cross channel lorries - the 5000 headed for Dover Port at Manston and 2000 For Eurotunnel on the M20 with a further 2000 on the M26 and then potentially stage 5 is for storage outside of Kent, if all that gets full...

#Khashoggi Case Thread: I am going to ‘pin’ this post to use it as an ‘Info Thread’ on the #Khashoggi Case. I am in #Turkey. I’ve been following the case closely and with access to sources & experts here. This is a very ‘sensitive’ criminal case due to ‘Diplomatic Booby Traps’!!!
The Evidence Obtained Outside Cameras will not show any evidence of ‘tempering’ but other than license plates of dozens of diplomatic cars (Many with tinted windows-large trunks) with related time stamp, drivers Info, model/year: Nothing.
#Turkish Intel-Investigative Bodies also have the list of all Diplomatic & Private Saudi & “other significant’ Planes in #Turkey for the period of ‘interest.’ Many of the Target airports have their own security cameras & related evidence.

#CPC #Conservatives2018 Mr Hunt @foreignoffice @Jeremy_Hunt are you aware of the monumental diplomatic travesty you committed today? Donald Tusk was leader of Student Committee of Solidarity in Gdańsk from ‘81. He literally helped bring down the fall of Communism.
As context, his predecessor Stan Pyjas was murdered by the Security Bureau. Tusk risked his life to bring down communism, as did many others of that Solidarity generation. Can you pls show respect and try understand the people you’re negotiating with? Your Toryboy glibness shows
He joined Lech Walesa’s first post communist government, and later became a two term serving elected Prime Minister. He’s been President of the European Council. If the EU was in any way like the Soviet Union, Donald Tusk would be in a better position to say so.

Chequers latest:

Am told that Andrea Leadsom and Esther McVey grumbled about the Brexit offering....but Boris was very quiet and Gove enthusiastic while Fox and Grayling (who’s doing Today tomorrow) were on good behaviour: some Tory Eurosceptics annoyed that no one resigned....
Indeed apparently Boris gave a mini speech at dinner supporting the deal, some colleagues found it “moving” apparently, that bit may or may not be sarcastic
this is like being promised Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid and getting Love Actually instead
