All cultures were built with appropriation. Sharing cultures makes us stronger, more understanding of each other. Wear what you like and eat the foods you enjoy and do it all in goodwill and it will be fine.

I wish you would not be spreading this myth that this is bad.
Furthermore, a streaming tv service has no business telling people what they can or can't wear on Halloween. Butt out and do your job, leave our lives alone.
I don't know what bug crawled up corporations ass, esp in Tech, that makes them think they are now our leaders and the moral conscious of the nation. Corporations, you are not our elected officials. You make cool stuff, that doesn't make you Glorious Leader.
These companies are already determined to control our conversations, who can buy and sell, who gets free speech and who doesn't, and now, wants to control what we wear. Who do they think they are?

I run into a lot of game devs that hate gamers. Not a majority, but a vocal few.

Game criticism is harsh stuff. Gamers make it personal if they get a name to blame, even if that person had little to do with it.
It’s a human reaction for accused devs to resent the base. They are not PR professionals or politicians. They just don’t know how to take it or roll with it. Their friends see what happened and also share the venting and the feelings of the dev.
So my tip is: bash the bad game and the publisher. Not the dev. You have no clue who did what or whose fault something is. Devs use this to blame other devs for politics too. Even leads are not to blame in all cases.

Devs also need to understand hating your customer is bad.

I don't believe in crunch. On WoW it was brutal. After that, I never had mandatory crunch for teams and discouraged managers from it. My lead of production kept asking me to force the team to do it and I refused. We had some people stay anyhow, but this time I"m doing a curfew.
During WoW's dev, we did not crunch for our E3 demo. We ended up a week ahead of schedule. During shipping, I was pulled in a for a "come to Jesus" talk about making the team crunch to (show the urgency). I did not agree with that, but I had to do it.
Of course, after WoW, CA law meant Blizzard had to go to a time clock system and unpaid crunch is hopefully a thing of the past there? Not sure, as I left before it was implemented.

1/The ubiquity of zero-sum politics and tribalism is an issue. We must locate our shared principles and commit ourselves to an idea meritocracy.

Tribalism: the behavior and attitudes that stem from strong loyalty to one's tribe or social group.
2/ I felt perhaps there was no resolution to my 5am take on explaining Buffet's Alpha and EMH.

The reality is a tribal issue with EMH.

It's terrible for investing.

It's terrible for the economy.
3/ Economics suffer from Physics Envy. A false sense of mathematical precision. This embodies the ivory tower disposition in the worst parts of academia. (Highlight: worst, not all).

Homo Economicus is not Homo Sapiens.
