A thread (sorry) about one plan being cooked up by influential MPs desperate to avoid a “No Deal” Brexit should May’s deal be voted down.
Their answer - a Brexit Options Vote.
If The Deal is voted down, how is a No Deal avoided given there’s no time left?
That’s the essay question here.
If Deal is voted down, parliament should be presented with all the workable options (Norway/Canada/People’s Vote?) to test what there is a majority for. What theatre!
The model is the options vote Blair used on Lords reform.
True, but so say advocates: “Parliament could vote every option down, but I see no alternative to that.”
The real focus now senior figures are putting on the parliamentary end feels to me like a sign that many lost it with No10 this week.
There's been a shift - the Commons equivalent of a “You don’t know what you’re doing” chant faced by a failing football boss. Big week.
