Just read Leadership and Self-Deception (after @stewart recommended it). A simple 3 hour read that taught me a huge amount about the ways I interact with people. I strongly recommend it for any leader; here’s a summary of what I learned:

amazon.com/Leadership-Sel…
In work and home, you regard other people as objects (you are “in the box” towards them) or you regard other people as people (you are “out of the box” toward them)
When you treat other people as objects, they can tell, and *surprise surprise* it doesn’t inspire them to want to cooperate with you very much

As someone who is default very oriented towards driving to completing projects, I can often slip into this mode.
When you are “in the box”, you make yourself the hero of your story, and default to seeing yourself as virtuous, and others in a more negative light. This leads you to blame others for problems and fail to take responsibility for outcomes.
I finished the book and immediately applied it to a situation I was in where my first reaction to something was to be negative and shift blame, instead of realizing the things I could have done to prevent the situation.
Overall the book was a very light read but I felt like it crystalized some of the negative behaviors I’ve brought with me to my workplaces.

Invaluable read! Would recommend to anyone and everyone.
