Was great fun introducing the speakers from @geodesignhub @GeoDirectory_ie @pinpointalerts & Connemara Programme for wide-ranging panel.

#Khashoggi Case Thread: I am going to ‘pin’ this post to use it as an ‘Info Thread’ on the #Khashoggi Case. I am in #Turkey. I’ve been following the case closely and with access to sources & experts here. This is a very ‘sensitive’ criminal case due to ‘Diplomatic Booby Traps’!!!
The Evidence Obtained Outside Cameras will not show any evidence of ‘tempering’ but other than license plates of dozens of diplomatic cars (Many with tinted windows-large trunks) with related time stamp, drivers Info, model/year: Nothing.
#Turkish Intel-Investigative Bodies also have the list of all Diplomatic & Private Saudi & “other significant’ Planes in #Turkey for the period of ‘interest.’ Many of the Target airports have their own security cameras & related evidence.

Thought I’d give you a quick round up of where we are with the Public Services Card scheme. Because these things go in months or years long arcs, it can be helpful to take stock. #PSC
The #PSC project sees the Dept of Social Protection (DEASP) acting as joint Data Controller with the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform (DPER) over a database of citizen’s identity, called the Single Customer View.

The PSC is the card attached to that database.
At some point in the past, DPER decided it wanted a single ID card and database which would be used throughout the public service to gain access to services- and they preferred to call it a “Public Services Card”, instead of, you know, an ID Card.

UCC had opportunity to comment on the #Data.Protection & Privacy Bill. The enactment of this law is long overdue. A comprehensive law on the collection & processing personal information gives effect to the right to Privacy envisaged under Article 27(2) of the Constitution
UCC welcome the protections offered by the Bill in terms of export of data, breach notification requirements, data subjects access rights, automated decision making, compensation and the right to be forgotten and provision for financial and penal sanctions for breach of the law.
Distinction between Data collectors & data controllers.
The Bill should however clarify & distinguish Data Collectors, from Data Processors & Data Controllers. Clause 2 is inconsistent with international good practice which provides for two broad categories of Data Controllers

Trump has been so enamored w/ the power of Putin he doesn’t realize this trade war with China is exactly what Putin wanted. In 2016 US made deal with China 2B their #1 provider of #NaturalGas & #Oil but now with tariffs & trade war all that surplus will be devoured by tariffs

Why. Why is it like this?

"Base registry". "Base registry owner."
It is not just the Data Sharing Bill, but the Data Sharing And Governance Bill.

The Governance part, one might have thought, is covered by the GDPR & DPAs. But no, it creates a shadow system.
The scope of "public bodies" covered is eye-watering: ministers, Revenue, Gardaí, Defence Forces, E&TBs, schools, bodies partly funded by Gov, subsidiaries ...
