Isn’t it ironic how the Twitter moment used to celebrate “women, LGBTQ, and minorities” is a picture of Ilhan Omar? Ilhan is pro-FGM. Under Sharia homosexuals are oppressed and killed. Women are abused and forced to wear the hijab. Ilhan is anti-Jewish. (Via Laura Loomer)
Why CAIR Is Fundraising for MN Candidate Ilhan Omar

clarionproject.org/cair-fundraise…
During her time in government, Ilhan advanced anti-Israel hatred, including voting against a Minnesota House bill to stop financially punishing Israel.
Omar rejected Muslim reform-driven efforts against gender discrimination and female genital mutilation (FGM), opposing a bill that would make it a felony for parents to subject their daughters to the procedure.
The bill also called for loss of custody and prison terms from five to 20 years, depending on the extent of the injuries. The bill also increased penalties for those who perform the procedure, which has been illegal in Minnesota since in the 1990s.
The bill won support from all but four of the 128 House members who voted. Omar was one of those four.
Last year, FGM survivors and activists joined forces against the brutal practice as a trial in Michigan against a doctor accusing of cutting girls made headlines. The victims included two seven-year-old Somali girls who were mutilated through an underground “cutting” network.
The issue drew attention to the widespread and secretive practice of genital mutilation against young girls. Campaigns against FGM have often been led by outspoken Muslim activists, FGM survivors and community leaders.
Yet attempts by a Muslim reformer and campaigning activist to contact Omar were intercepted by her assistant and requests to speak to her were firmly rejected
Indeed, CAIR incites, funds, and does much more vis-à-vis terrorism:

It apologizes for terrorist groups: Challenged repeatedly to denounce Hamas and Hezbollah as terrorist groups, CAIR denounces the acts of violence but not their sponsors.
It is connected to Hamas: Hamas, designated a terrorist organization by the U.S. and many other governments, indirectly created CAIR and the two groups remain tight.
Examples:

In 1994, CAIR head Nihad Awad publicly declared his support for Hamas; the Holy Land Foundation (HLF), a Hamas front group, contributed $5,000 to CAIR; in turn, CAIR exploited the 9/11 attacks to raise money for HLF.
This past August, demonstrators at a CAIR-sponsored rally in Florida proclaimed “We are Hamas!”
It settled a lawsuit: CAIR initiated a libel lawsuit in 2004 over five statements by a group called Anti-CAIR. But two years later, CAIR settled the suit with prejudice (meaning that it cannot be reopened), implicitly acknowledging the accuracy of Anti-CAIR’s assertions:
CAIR is a terrorist supporting front organization that is partially funded by terrorists”;

“CAIR . . . is supported by terrorist supporting individuals, groups and countries”;

“CAIR has proven links to, and was founded by, Islamic terrorists”; and
“CAIR actively supports terrorists and terrorist supporting groups and nations.”
Muslim Trailblazer Ilhan Omar Admits She Backs BDS — Now That Election Is OVER

forward.com/news/national/…
When she was asked at an August primary debate held in a synagogue to specify “exactly where you stand” on BDS, Omar said that BDS was “not helpful in getting that two-state solution” — never explaining that she in fact supported the policy.
“She’s either misrepresenting or misunderstanding. And I hope to be able to have a dialogue with her that clarifies which of those is the nature of her stance,” said Rabbi Avi Olitzky of Beth El Synagogue, which hosted the debate.
Many of her Jewish constituents are grappling with remarks her office made to a website called MuslimGirl, claiming that Omar supported the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement against Israel.
Omar’s office did not respond to an interview request.
Ilhan Omar: Why I hate Israel powerlineblog.com/archives/2018/… via @powerlineUS
She calls Israel an “apartheid regime.”

That is a defamatory falsehood with a shabby provenance. In Omar’s case, it is something more than an impulsive comment in a recent tweet. It represents her considered judgment.
One can see it at work in her remarks on the floor of the Minnesota House in opposition to a bill (HF 400) opposing the boycott of Israel promoted by so-called BDS groups harking back to the “Zionism is racism” lie of the 1970’s.
Omar spoke against the bill on the floor of the house in February 2017. First she played her song of identity politics in the key of nobody knows the trouble I’ve seen: “I think I know a little bit about discrimination. I face it every single day.”
“I carry multiple identities that are constantly, constantly being discriminated against.” Then she launched into this disquisition, likening Israel to the racist South African regime .
“And we here in Minnesota, certainly in this body who are not educated enough to understand the nuances of the people who are living in Israel and Palestine are going through should not be having these conversations about what is appropriate and what it isn’t [sic].”
“I certainly never advocate for any kind of discrimination.”

(apparently unless it’s against Jews)
Those who support BDS frame their efforts as targeting the Israeli government when they are fully aware that BDS mostly affects the Jews of Israel. Their desire is to punish the entire country.
Anti-Zionism Has No Place In The PROGRESSIVE MOVEMENT tabletmag.com/jewish-news-an…
Anti-Zionism ghettoizes Jews from the rest of the justice movement, putting a wall around us that separates us from other marginalized people. It cannot be reconciled with any movement striving for inclusivity.
It denies us access to solidarity-based movements which should be fighting for equality, for historically oppressed peoples.
As American Jewish students return to campus, they should prepare to be challenged academically and intellectually, and should also prepare to challenge movements that don’t respect Zionism and their Jewish heritage.
Anti-Zionism seeks to intimidate you and silence you. It seeks to strip you of your history and culture and decide who Jews are and what our history is. That’s wrong. The more you take ownership of your heritage, culture, and politics, the stronger and more successful you will be
If you’re a progressive, fight for a progressive movement that values you as a fully actualized person and is inclusive of you and your heritage even when you have serious disagreements on specific policies.
