It is extremely important for Africans to understand what the barriers to success are. One is geopolitical; the modern African state is not fit for purpose - and even if the political challenges were surmounted, Africa's geography makes inter-connectivity extremely difficult.
For inter-connectivity and intra-African trade to work; somebody has to invest $100s of billions every year to build the connecting infrastructure - nobody in Wall Street or in Western Pension funds is going to lend you that kind of money. Perish the thought.
The only people who are going to invest that kind of money in Africa are people who are desperate, not for profits, but for some geostrategic advantage. That definitely does not include the United States of America. There's a slim likelihood that someone else would.
