Washington (Dec. 07, 2018) - On Dec. 3, 2018, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) was rendered an unmodified opinion on its Military Construction (MILCON) Funds FY 2018 Financial Statements by financial accounting firm KPMG.
KPMG’s opinion concluded the Army MILCON Financial Statements are fairly stated in all material respects.
The opinion is the first major opinion for any Army Appropriation and is a significant accomplishment in the Army’s quest for a clean opinion on its General Fund Financial Statements.
The FY 2018 MILCON Financial Statements accounts for more than $10 billion in total budgetary resources.
“The audit opinion is a significant step towards the Army becoming auditable,” said Mr. Tom Steffens, USACE chief financial officer, “USACE, as a DoD Construction Agent, remains committed to supporting all its stakeholders in meeting their auditability goals.”
The USACE Military Missions provides premier program and project management, engineering, construction, real estate, installation support, environmental, and stability operations services for the Army, Air Force, other U.S. government agencies and foreign governments.
The Military Missions workforce comprises more than 11,000 personnel spread across the U.S. and in more than 91 foreign countries who provide engineering expertise throughout the world. Programs executed within Military Missions can exceed more than $24 billion in a single year.
