Worth noting that amongst other things, it will scrap EU tariffs of 10% on Japanese cars. Suddenly the UK looks like an even worse partner to the car industry going forward. Chances of serious damage to the sector increased dramatically.
Also worth noting that even if we end up getting a free trade deal with Japan, we will never get one that’s better than the EU one. At best it’s the status quo (after unknown number of months/years) but more likely it won’t be as good, because we’re a much less juicy market.
