Well, my kitty with cancer is recovering nicely from her amputation surgery and had her first immunotherapy vaccine today. Outlook is cautiously good. Reminder that if there's any way for you to swing it, get pet insurance for your kitten or puppy. It's worth it.
And if you're a tech company looking for a benefit that your employees will actually *use*, covered or subsidized pet insurance might make you stand out to pet-loving millennials.
My kitty and I are having a bit of a sustained argument over whether she should wear the baby onesie to protect her incision, though. On night #2 after surgery, I had settled her into her little nest on the floor and gone to bed.
I woke up to someone poking me in the ribs, and opened my eyes to discover my newly three-legged, still recovering, drugged up cat had managed to A) remove the onesie and B) jump all the way up onto my bed.
She also seemed pretty insistent that I note the lack of onesie. I got up and found it and attempted to put it back on her, at which point she rolled over on her side so her remaining front leg was on top and punched me.
I apologized and agreed to table the onesie discussion until morning, and she curled up next to me and went to sleep. I ended up losing the onesie debate because somehow she's able to make her remaining front leg vanish and become a snake and just slither out of it.
I had to say her name in my Mom Voice several times when she started to lick her incision, but she's stopped trying to lick it now and we're over a week since the surgery and the vet says it's healing really well so I guess kitty was right and we didn't need the onesie.
So anyway, she's doing pretty well and being a tripod does not seem to have put a dent in her badassness.
