Something we need to learn from Brexit and Trump's failures: it's not enough to simply say the system as-is is broken and needs disrupted. It certainly is broken, but simply disrupting it without a plausible plan to make it better and more humane only worsens the problem.
We have to start thinking way beyond the box and coming up with alternatives to this unfair and inhumane system. We have to start thinking outside this paradigm in order to create solutions and create achievable paths towards a better system.
The problem, as always, is that everything about the way the world works is intended and designed to train people to think of it as a stable and lone option. We have to retrain ourselves to think bigger and better than simply continuing what's broken and what's monstrous.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has already shown that simply changing the conversation to shoot higher pays huge dividends. We need to start discussing sweeping changes in how this country and this world operate and the only way that begins is to define the problem and solve it.
But simply saying, I'm angry, I want someone or some policy to express my anger, only takes us further down a bad road. Brexit and Trump are endangering people and only solidifying the status quo's argument that this system is the only one capable of being stable or achievable.
