The key thing about the Dominic Grieve amendment is that it would guarantee MPs time - six days in total - to debate and vote on Brexit options.

Dominic Grieve: “A resolution of the House is a pretty solemn thing. If the House says that it thinks something ought to be done which the Govt isn’t doing the Govt can decide to ignore it but historically it would be very unusual in our constitution for that to happen."
Timing of the last debate could be key.
If all other options have fallen away and there is still no deal by March 26, the Grieve amendment would allow MPs to table a last second amendment demanding Article 50 extension.
