Live stream of Maduro counter-speech after interim president @jguaido spoke earlier (I missed the start of this)

Maduro calls January 23 protests "acts of vandalism" by forces trying to launch a coup against him. He says "every act of vandalism" is being investigated. "People have been arrested". He says they should all get "maximum penalty... 20 years or more"

Maduro asks "Who wins?" with the protests, which he equates with violence. "The coupists", he argues. "Venezuela's path cannot fall in the hands of thieves and thugs"

Maduro says foreign ministry is "looking over" what to do about countries that have recognized @jguaido as interim president. "We're evaluation options, always. Option one. Option two. Option three".

Maduro says response will deal "with the head, not the satellites".

Maduro says of the US: "If they want to go crazy... well, go ahead, Mr. Trump". Says Venezuela has a plan to deal with threats "whenever, wherever"

On @jguaido claim that US has offered humanitarian aid, Maduro says "US doesn't give anything... they take people's resources". Says there is no example anywhere in the world of US investing money anywhere in the world, except for "bombs against Libya... Iraq"

On possibility of receiving US aid, Maduro says "Venezuela is not a nation of beggars... we're workers". Says @jguaido is a beggar, and that he feels "shame" for him

Maduro says "you can be sure" that $20 million won't come from the US as Guaido has said, then says that the money is actually going to build the US-Mexico wall (??)

Maduro "welcomes" debate at UN about Venezuela. Says he "almost" asked Foreign Ministry. "Thank you very much, Mr. Pompeo", he says in English, for calling the meeting.

Maduro continues: "I thank Mike Pompeo" for calling UN debate "because we will bring all of the truth" to the meeting.

Maduro says "I was surprised by a huge" pro-gov't protest in Vargas because it happened at noon. "It must have been 42 degrees in the shade". Maduro says pro-gov't protests are the biggest they've ever seen.

"I'm calling for a popular rebellion against the coup d'etat... people, take the streets!" (This is a pretty common PSUV slogan, not necessarily a literal call for protests right now)

Maduro says the Venezuela army "has the highest professionalism in the world", and that it's ready "for any foreign threat". He says "We are preparing always" for possibility of invasion.

Maduro jokes that "I heard your speech in English", referring to comments made by the Minister of Defense Padrino Lopez part of which was broadcast on CNN

Maduro quotes Roman author: "If you want peace, prepare for way". Says "I don't like it. I prefer 'If you want peace, prepare to defend it'"

Maduro says again that UN debate "is a gift from Mike Pompeo", says Venezuela is ready to debate whenever. Hints at personal trip to NYC: "I may appear in New York any time... to personally bring the truth about Venezuela to the UN Security Council"

Maduro says White House is "watching live". He says "Trump, Pompeo, Bolton, Pence" are watching. "How are you, my friends?" He says in English.

"Make history, Mr. Trump... it's always possible to correct" past errors
