4) This is Paul Manafort, Carter Page, Roger Stone, Jerome Corsi and George Papadopoulos. Add conspiracy theorist (and foreign agent) Alex Jones to the mix.
5) The government shutdown has achieved its goal. Forget the breathless reporting; FOX is not your 'friend'. POTUS has spotlighted the need for security on the border.
6) The media is ecstatic about two things. One is the money tap will be turned on (more free stuff for the career mooches in DC) and a 'win' for Nancy Pelosi.

7) What this DOES do is this: One, the SOTU is back on track. The president has played this card extremely well. Even if there is no money for the barriers (it's better off if there isn't) the Dems now 'own' open borders.
8) To the opposition: beware pyrrhic victories. Delighting over no border protection is really, really stupid. SOTU speech will have unparalleled audience numbers. It will be devastating.
9) He also has the National Emergency in his back pocket. The hordes are still marching north; that photo op isn't going away. This was a principled stand over national security.

In warfare, as in business, sometimes it is in your long term interest to give the opposition the illusion of victory, as it causes them to make unwise decisions.
