1. Is it ageist for me to think that Bernie is too old to run for president?
2. I know ageism is bad, but as someone in my 50s who is experiencing the challenges that come with aging, I can't help but wonder how the heck Bernie thinks he can do the job of President at the age of 83 (the age he'll be at the end of his first term).
3. Look at RBG. She's f-ing superwoman, but at the age of 85 she's struggling to hang in there. Her job does not require a ton of travel, nor does it require high-profile public performances.
4. I'm having a hard time getting past the fact that Bernie would turn 80 in his first year in office (if he won). I admire and appreciate the role Bernie has played in American politics during my lifetime. I voted for him in Oregon's meaningless 2016 primary.
5. It just seems like in the year of our lord 2020, the last thing we need is a series of debates between two guys in their 70s. It's time to turn the country over to a different generation.
6. Bernie did a ton to shift the conversation within the Democratic Party...if he was 60 I'd have zero reservations about him running for the nomination.
7. Remember how old and doddering Ronald Reagan seemed at the end of his term in office? He was 77, the age Bernie is right now. I know they're different people...but still.
8. Ok, so someone convince me that I'm just being stupidly ageist and I should let go of this reason to be unenthused about Bernie 2020.
9. By the way, all of these reservations I've expressed here apply equally to Joe Biden as well (who is only one year younger than Bernie).
