I understand the sentiment, but underneath this bumper-sticker soundbite is a deeply unserious foreign policy.

Neither the Neocons nor the Rand Paul crowd are at all serious when it comes to dealing with the world the way it is—the former don’t understand human nature and the limits of American power; the latter don’t understand that we have national interests and allies.
Both of these attitudes are wrong. I’m sympathetic to Rand when it comes to pulling back on wars and interventions, but pulling back and being at the mercy of rival powers is craziness.
It’s bonkers that the only US Senator who seems to understand this is @SenTedCruz. We need 99 more like him, but at this point, even a couple more will do.
