#Editorial: Immigration, legal and illegal, is a government program run amok. Starting with Senator Ted "Chappaquiddick" Kennedy's 1965 Immigration Act, Democrats have been using the levers of government to increase their number of voters to flip Republican states. #SOTU 1/

California used to be a Republican middle-class paradise, complete with miles of golden beaches, beautiful young families and cities that were the envy of the world. The state that gave us Reagan became a Democrat bastion in less than 20 years. Why? Immigration. #SOTU 2/

Ted Kennedy's 1965 Immigration Act biased the government program of legal immigration in favor of migrants within walking distance (who were more likely to vote Democrat than the refugees of Communist Eastern Europe) and put the country on the track of mass immigration. #SOTU 3/

With the government program of legal immigration kicked into overdrive, chain migration (where one legal immigrant can bring in more based on family connections) vastly increased the legal numbers while lax enforcement allowed illegal immigration to increase as well. #SOTU 4

The pressures of illegal immigration taxed state infrastructures, like hospitals and public schools, and created a vast population of unassimilated dependents. This pressure culminated in Reagan's 1986 amnesty, whereby the government made all illegal immigrants legal. #SOTU 5/

And so the one-two punch of legal and illegal immigration was complete, with Republican border strongholds like California (and now Texas) sliding further and irredeemably toward the Dem column. The Dems know how to use the government program of immigration to win. #SOTU 6/

America needs to regain citizen control of this government program run amok. Immigration should serve the national interest alone, to the benefit of the American citizenry. We need smart, limited immigration, not more legal immigration than ever before. #MAGA #SOTU /end
