THREAD: Jill Abramson plagiarized me at least seven times in her new book, Merchants of Truth.
First, some background: I ran my own magazine from 2011 to 2014, because there were no jobs and I need to write and try to progress. I ran Relapse Magazine literally out of my bedroom. I worked nights at a hotel to fund it. I wrote a profile of Thomas Morton in 2014.
I'm just...I don't know. Devastated? This is just crazy. I'm just showing these screenshots so people know. I have articles to write and a book coming out in three weeks, so I have bigger shit to worry about. But shame on you, Jill. Shame on you.
Oh, and for the record: This article was hosted on my personal website—nowhere else. So Jill went to my PERSONAL WEBSITE, lifted my reporting, and put it in her book.
Okay, since this is blowing up, how about this: Don't buy Jill's book. Buy mine instead. It's about my adventures in the underground world of magic. I put my heart into it. It comes out 2/26—just three weeks away!

I've been shown that small snippets of my story have been credited in the endnotes, but the endnotes do not go into the depth of how much this section about Thomas relied on my article. She quotes Thomas as if he's speaking to her directly. This would not fly for a mag article.
