In the 1906 General Election (and period before/after) one of the main bones of contention was Free Trade vs Imperial Preference (Tariff Reform). I've found some nice posters from the time that illustrate the debate. I'm planning to use some of these in my upcoming #Lewes talk.
The Tories & coalition partners the Liberal Unionists were pro-Tariff Reform (in the main) but they lost 1906 General Election to the Liberals who were pro-Free Trade. However, the issue didn't go away. This poster is from 1909.

Radical=Liberals
Arthur Balfour thought there was a sure way to resolve the issue once and for all.

Can you guess?
