So what's with the endless ISIS stories from East Syria?

I'm not against talking to them but many interviews uncritical &give terrorists free PR.

"I'm innocent/ I want to go home/this is hell on earth." etc

R we supposed to tell their stories at face value? With no checking?
There are still everywhere in ex-ISIS territories mass graves.

There are many enslaved yazidi women still missing.

Hundreds of thousands of kurds don't know what will happen to them after U.S. withdrawal.

But most headlines in Western media: Poor ISIS brides want to go home.

I'm very honoured to recieve today from ex-president of France @fhollande the #ShifaGardiAward, during a Rudaw ceremony in Erbil.

Award is in memory of Shifa, brave female Kurdish reporter killed near Mosul 2yrs ago while reporting on ISIS.

May her legacy live forever.

It's an extra honour for me as a female reporter with Arab background that I receive #ShifaGardiAward from Kurdish tv network in Erbil.

Kurds suffered so much under ISIS. Important to show that ISIS ideology can't destroy Kurdish &Arab coexistence in fight against extremism.
The #ShifaGardiAward I was given today in #Erbil comes with a $15000 check. That's a lot of money.

I decided to dontate full amount to various projects in Kurdistan Iraq.

There are so many people in need! Many ISIS victims.

Soon I'll pick best charities. Will keep u posted.

When I first met @Baba_A_ in 2013 in magical #Timbuktu, I thought I'll never see him again.

But last night he was my guest here in Dubai. Over Lebanese food he told me stories about Mali &I told him about Beirut &Dubai.

Baba is a great journalist. Pls follow &support his work
At one point @Baba_A_ and I were the only two journalists in Timbuktu who spoke Arabic. So we developed a bond.

The Arabs of Timbuktu back then massively left the city for fear of being targeted after the start of the war to kick the Jihadists out.
One of the sad news I learned from @Baba_A_ is that the famous Khaira Arby has passed away. She was known as "The Nightingale of Timbuktu".

I met her in 2013 in Bamako. It was right after hearing that Jihadists might cut her tongue because she was a singer.

Rest In Peace. 💔

Is it true to say that many of you are against taking Western ISIS members back home to the West is the fear that they will be free soon since prison sentences are not high? Is that your main worry?

2/9The intention survey carried out at Rukban has yet to be published, but UNHCR has already emphasized “most want to go” - this requires further evaluation. First, many Syrian IDPs fear returning to regime areas because, as resident at Rukban told me, it would be “suicide”.
3/9 Many Syrians at Rukban initially fled Russian/Syrian bombing campaigns in Aleppo, Homs, and other urban areas as early as 2015. That is nearly 4 years in protracted displacement, spurred by fear that return would mean illegal detainment, conscription, or even death.

Horrendous - the death toll from this morning’s #ISIS #Suwaida attacks has risen to 220.

Tensions are already high in the area, amidst fresh disagreements with #Damascus (& #Russia) over the imposition of conscription on the area's local male population.
It seems that #ISIS may have kidnapped #Syria soldiers/pro-#Assad militiamen during today’s assault on al-#Suwaida.

#ISIS media has published graphic images showing a mass execution - again, eerily reminiscent of earlier days, when intimidation was a main objective.
BREAKING - Days after horrific attacks on #Suwaida, ISIS says it's attacking nearby Khalkhalah airport, now home to *huge* amounts of weaponry surrendered by the #FSA in #Deraa.

626 "Jaish al-Islam" militants/families have left #Ghouta towards #Aleppo - #Jarablus . The evacuation is slow because the Syrian Army wants to make sure the 100s of millions (JAL requested to take away $900 m but the request was rejected) r not taken away
