+1 to this thread. I was diagnosed at 19.
Speaking of which, there's a pile of laundry in my dryer that will never get folded,

I'm staring at unpaid bills on my desk that I could easily pay,

And my place is generally a mess.
So real. I've read plenty of difficult books in the last decade. It took practice and grinding, but it became something I loved.

This too - adrenaline is such a key part of my workflow

I've played poker, done high-level competitive debate, law school,

Now I do periscopes

The common thread? INTENSITY

This too

Much of succeeding is finding lifehacks to do things

For example - I've used a personal trainer off and on for ten years

Because if I don't have a personal training appointment I don't go to the gym

This feeling of being carried away in thought is too real

Even now when I read books, I'll get distracted by a thought and realize that I didn't actually read the previous paragraph even though my eyes were scanning down it

After I crushed law school I thought I had "beaten" it

Like really - I graduated magna at a T14, got a job at the best litigation firm in the country, clearly I must have it handled, right?

Nah

If you think normal things are hard with ADD, try practicing law
Law School was just an absolute triumph of lifehacks

Lifehack #1: Stay three days ahead of the reading no matter what
Lifehack #2: Sit in the very front of every class so you can't be distracted
Lifehack #3: The Freedom App
Everyone complained about how competitive law school was

I loved it - because competitiveness is almost a prerequisite for something to hold my attention!
BTW this is the freedom app, you're welcome, if you are ADD and use a laptop in any class it's a necessity

Also like a very large number of you are DMing me right now, so you really aren't alone!

I wouldn't be surprised if MANY talented twitter users have ADD

Tweeting - even threads - is SO much easier than writing
Another funny memory

One of the biggest fire drills during biglaw was this TRO motion that I worked crazy hours on over a three-day period

My performance was really solid - bc adrenaline

But I came home one night and my power had been cut off for unpaid bills
