I'm staring at unpaid bills on my desk that I could easily pay,
And my place is generally a mess.
I've played poker, done high-level competitive debate, law school,
Now I do periscopes
The common thread? INTENSITY
Much of succeeding is finding lifehacks to do things
For example - I've used a personal trainer off and on for ten years
Because if I don't have a personal training appointment I don't go to the gym
Even now when I read books, I'll get distracted by a thought and realize that I didn't actually read the previous paragraph even though my eyes were scanning down it
Like really - I graduated magna at a T14, got a job at the best litigation firm in the country, clearly I must have it handled, right?
Nah
If you think normal things are hard with ADD, try practicing law
Lifehack #1: Stay three days ahead of the reading no matter what
Lifehack #2: Sit in the very front of every class so you can't be distracted
Lifehack #3: The Freedom App
I loved it - because competitiveness is almost a prerequisite for something to hold my attention!
freedom.to
I wouldn't be surprised if MANY talented twitter users have ADD
Tweeting - even threads - is SO much easier than writing
One of the biggest fire drills during biglaw was this TRO motion that I worked crazy hours on over a three-day period
My performance was really solid - bc adrenaline
But I came home one night and my power had been cut off for unpaid bills
