Amid schadenfreude of May’s inevitable humiliation, remember she’s still trading in fantasy. 30 June gives no time at all to hold ref & hardly any time to ratify a better deal. Will someone please be brave and mature enough to acknowledge we must stand MEPs in European elections?
I honestly can’t understand why this is such a dreadful obstacle. If we’d triggered A50 in 2018 we’d be halfway through process and legally bound to stand candidates. Who cares? Let them take seats and if necessary leave. It’s a minor inconvenience. Burning the economy is worse.
The country’s political priorities are completely unhinged. We’ve set the country on fire but are still pretending everything is normal and we can think about rourine problems in the same way. We can’t. It’s too late to save face. Let’s rather save people’s jobs and livelihoods.
