This is entirely plausible - and what one cab minister at least hopes for - eu hypothetically says no to short extension with no concrete purpose - think this is part of reason for timing of MV 2 being pre summit - but careful strategy or making most of a mess? discuss
But if vote fails next week again, not sure why May any more likley to ditch her plan than she has been all along - if defeat of 230 didn’t shift her dramatically, not sure a hypothetical smaller defeat next week will if it goes that way
But there is total nightmare brewing over what to do next weds for No 10 if vote has fallen -they’ve given parly option to vote to delay and extend - but whichever way govt itself whip , likely to be resignations with unpredictable consequences-so is it the unthinkable free vote?
Eurosceptic expectations of Cox process are low - a chunk of tories will move to govt position on back of it , some desperate to climb down off their particular high horse - but certainly not all of them - all fluid tho and vote still a week away
Last - can’t say too many times, don’t assume that MP s will def vote one way or other in big enough numbers next week either to rule out no deal for now, or to extend - there are big constituencies against both
