We have 1,000+ treaties with the EU. Of them, 161 have been deemed essential to cope with a no-deal Brexit. So how many have we actually rolled over? 43! So we're only a quarter of the way through the must-haves, with 22 days left. Doomed. Doomed. Doomed. theguardian.com/politics/2019/…
Not only that, but we're only about 4% of the way toward replicating the current status quo. 4%! It is going to take years and years and years just to get back what we're losing, let alone see the teeniest tiniest squeak of a benefit from Brexit.
So it seems more important that ever to remember there's still an alternative, even at this late hour: we can ALWAYS remain in the EU instead by revoking Article 50.

So where are we now? It is now official UK policy to ask for an Article 50 extension. But control of how long for, and for what purpose, remains with Theresa May. And in a few hours, we'll be down to the final fortnight of normal-time Brexit.
Meanwhile, Parliament has demonstrated a bottomless capacity to vote down everything, and an equal-and-opposite resolve not to actually determine what might command a majority. Perhaps it's time we called a psychic to read the HOC Brexit tea leaves?
Returning to the A50 extension, not only do we not know what TM will request, we don't know if the EU will grant it. They may reject it out of hand (e.g. because they figure she'll fritter it away on time-wasting) or they may only offer a different length A50 extension.

This next amendment is interesting, because it effectively forces the Government to cede control over business in the HOC for a limited time on 20 March for indicative votes. But it establishes an intriguing new precedent by changing Parliamentary procedure.
If this amendment and/or the next one pass, it's possible to imagine the Government changing their whipping instructions and trying to sabotage their own motion for a second evening in a row.
Amendment defeated by 312 votes to 314. MV3 and eternal despair come that little bit closer.

Chris Bryant rises to support his amendment, which is designed to kill off MV3, MV4, MV5 etc. by blocking attempts to keep bringing back the same motion. Begins by quoting the lyrics of "Windmills of Your Mind". Passionate speech, listing historic precedents for blocking repeats.

EU leaders not being bloody-minded when insist today that they see an increased likelihood of a no deal #Brexit .. Even if majority of MPs vote against “no deal” today that in itself doesn’t legally stop it from happening. MPs have to unite around another plan first 1
Just extending the Brexit process does not in itself prevent “no deal” from happening at a later date. That’s why EU keeps banging on about Parliament not just agreeing on what it doesn’t want but finally deciding what it does want: the PMs deal/another deal/elections/2nd ref. 2
And that will involve MPs holding their nose and voting (in many cases) for their least worst scenario rather than an ideal which may not realistically find a parliamentary majority or for magical #Brexit solutions that simply don’t exist 3

On Labour/second referendum: Corbyn seen in Europe as convinced
eurosceptic so EU is sceptical of his backing a second referendum. EU
has watched #Brexit turmoil long enough to see huge complications in
holding the vote and realise many leave voters have changed their
mind. /2
Of course EU would still rather UK stayed but Europe's leaders don't
see this as realistically on the cards right now. Most realistic,
considering turmoil in Westminster, says EU council President Tusk:

2/ Mrs May will not be able to get the backstop removed from the WA. She will however get some additional promises and clarifications from the EU.

Here is a round up of our activities today. It was a busy day. We sent volunteers to the Cross in Chester and to Northwich to get out and talk to the people. THREAD
We took our lovely Mascot #EUnice and she really attracted some attention which allowed us to get into conversations with all kinds of people regardless of how they voted in the 2016 referendum.
People wanted to talk to us about how they felt about the #brexitshambles. We asked them what they thought about Mays deal, No-deal or Remain. There was quite a buzz and these were the scores on the doors about half way through.
