As a former/recovering lawyer and a huge geek I am always interested in the stories behind the rules we live by. I can guarantee you that every "boilerplate" contract provision has a fascinating story behind it. Some dramatic human event that lead to a new provision being drafted
As an attorney there were a couple provisions that I added into form contracts because of oddball occurrences and some day I'd love to write a book highlighting why series A term sheets look the way they do entirely based on human drama the stories behind the terms.
I think rules come from the same kind of human drama. My team and I went to a cryo therapy facility several months ago & one of the rules was (A) You must wear your own underwear and (b) said underwear must be dry. Don't you wish you knew the story behind the rule? I know I do 🤣
