1. THREAD on breast binding: This is the third batch of screen grabs we have received from a member of the online "affirmative" parent support group. The focus of this set is serious hazards from breast binders. Our source says this is a tiny smattering of what's on the forum.

2. Binder use results in an ER visit. Another mom worries about her 8-year-old's future--a child who has said she doesn't want to change her body. (Another case of a parent believing her child is the opposite sex, even when the child is ok with her body.)

3. Coughing up blood.

4. Rib lumps and vomiting.

5. Athlete w/serious breathing problems, must use inhaler. It's understandable why mothers would opt for blockers or early mastectomies, given the serious iatrogenic problems resulting from teens loathing their breasts to this extent.

6. School nurse wouldn't look under the teen's breasts because child is "living as male." Nurse must guess that it is "probably the binder."

7. Lungs "never fully inflate." Must use ventolin pump.

8. Lest you think these problems only occur when someone binds improperly, this study cohort reported more issues w/ supposedly safe commercial binders. But rather than addressing body-hate, clinicians push for earlier mastectomies--or puberty blocking.
