The House Judiciary Committee has begun a three prong investigation of the Trump administration.

They will be investigating: 1. Obstruction of justice; 2. Public corruption; 3. Abuses of power.

The investigation of Public Corruption will examine "potential violations of the emoluments clauses of the U.S. Constitution, conspiracy to violate federal campaign and financial reporting laws, and other criminal misuses of official positions for personal gain."

Trump’s declaration of a national emergency is contrived & without factual basis. He even admitted he "didn't need to do it." It's an autocratic move--unconstitutional. Trump cannot make appropriation decisions; that's Congress' constitutional power. 1/3

Even if Trump can show that the declaration is constitutional, legally, he must show that using the funds is for the "national defense." There’s little chance he can convince the courts of this.

@realDonaldTrump Trump’s fake national emergency is a brazen assault on Article I, Section 9, Clause 7 of the United States Constitution which gives Congress the power of the purse and guarantees the the separation of powers to safeguard our democracy.
@realDonaldTrump The fact that even a Republican controlled Senate not only recognizes this but is voting against Trump’s fake emergency shows how the president has gone too far in his assault against the Constitution. Even for them.
@realDonaldTrump But it’s unfortunately just empty symbolism in the end. Trump will use his first ever veto in his presidency to revoke it all. There aren’t enough lawmakers in Congress who care about our Constitution enough to form a veto-proof majority to defend what they were sworn to protect.
