I think a thing missing from this conversation is: If Abrams doesn't get on a VP ticket early, then she probably runs for senate and is not available to be put on the ticket later. Getting on a ticket now may be her best way to become VP. fivethirtyeight.com/features/does-…
There will be immense pressure not to make a VP selection in July 2020 that withdraws the Dam candidate from a top senate race. Of course, Abrams could pass on a senate run, but then she risks getting neither the VP nod nor a Senate run.
It's also quite possible the nominee is Kamala Harris, who I think would be unlikely to want Abrams as her running mate.
I think people overthink her incentives here a little. What's in it for Stacey Abrams to get on the ticket with Biden? It's that this is likely to make her Vice President, and Vice Presidents often become president.
