We are approaching 72 hours of a nationwide electrical blackout. Already facing growing food shortages,remaining food is spoiling & the prospect starvation is many is now real.

 Already facing severe fuel shortages,generator use has further depleted supplies. In the next few hours more generators will stop at hospitals because fuel is running out. Making matters even worse is that internet & cell service makes communications increasingly difficult.

The justification for corporate buybacks is company has no better investment available. This may be true for any company from time to time. But what does it say when it is true for many companies year after year?

Since 1980 have steady trend of corporate profits flowing back into financial markets & less of these profits invested in increasing productivity through innovation, technology, equipment etc. The result is not enough increase in productivity, growth or widespread prosperity 2/9
Why are profits not being invested into company or new companies? Because our economy driven by large & active investors who pressure for increase earnings per share.Investment pools that prefer safe returns over long term investment & executive compensation based on stock

For years now Maduro has used food as a tool to control #Venezuela.

To receive food through the so called “CLAP” program you must not only vote,but vote for Maduro (yes they know how people voted).

If you are caught opposing Maduro,you lose access to the “CLAP” program.

This is why #Maduro refuses to allow any humanitarian aid to enter #Venezuela. He knows that if people no longer depend on him for food & medicine, they no longer have any reason to even pretend they support him. He has weaponized hunger & disease. 2/4
He blames sanctions for economic conditions. But the fact is:
- Until last week,all sanctions were on individuals,not government; &
- the cash from oil sales never reached the people. It was used to buy & maintain the loyalty of top military leaders & regime elites.

So, I’ll go ahead and comment. I thought this was obvious but it may not be. This isn’t the result of property tax, this is the result of racist housing policies that divided communities into wealthy white & poor minority. The tax dynamic is just a byproduct of systemic racism.
When you draw lines based on race as a means to segregate housing a few things happen.

1. Whites obtained greater housing loans & build communities of wealth.
2. Blacks are not given such loans & are forced to live in poverty.
3. Taxes in white area are higher due to wealth...
4. Taxes in black neighborhoods are lower due to impoverished living conditions.

Since school district is determined by community; wealthy neighborhoods have wealthy schools. Poor Black neighborhoods have poor schools.

All of this is the fruit of racist housing policies.

Without automatic expungement, policies to vacate prior marijuana convictions, like the one recently announced by @BrooklynDA, are meaningless. People may not be aware of eligibility & the processes to get convictions vacated are too cumbersome.

So far only 2 dozen people have had their marijuana convictions vacated in Brooklyn, of the more than 20,000 people who are eligible.

That's for a policy announced some 6 months ago to so much fanfare.

A whole lot of self-congratulatory press-releases & speeches from @BrooklynDA & @OrenYaniv (official spokesperson for the office) with insignificant outcomes for the people the policy was supposed to benefit.
