LIstening to a "busta bloodvessel" getting over excited on LBC ... usual mix of fantasy and narrative. No, Leave (£13M) did not spend more than Remain (£19M) and No, the Remain figure didn't include Gov spending (leaflet etc) but Yes, Leave did break some spending rules.
X : What's a "Busta Bloodvessel"?
Me : Name of a singer plus also a slang term for someone who becomes seethingly passionate of the "Outraged of Hemel Hempstead" / "Rationality has left the building" kind.
... LBC has a couple of "Busta Bloodvessel" presenters who like to go off on a froth with much gnarling and gnashing. It's quite entertaining as long as you remember that it's a show and this is about getting a response / ratings rather than actual news.

Modified the presentation so many times that it now looks identical to what I started with. The nerves are kicking in, pacing up and down outside the acquarium. The usual "should I wear a jacket or not" panic ... funny how nerves overwhelm the most basic of decision making ...
... how on earth did I, a person who can be painfully shy at the best of times, end up giving so many presentations. As per normal, I charge towards the thing I fear the most just to overcome it. Like my fear of heights, I'm always first to dangle of a cliff edge.
I have to say the community is wonderfully forgiving and tolerant. I walk a fortunate path surrounded by noble and kind people. It makes life a pleasure ... even if I can be a grumbly old git sometimes.

Watched "Taking Earth" last night. Amazing. Sci Fi effects were circa video games 2006. You often get one wooden actor but an entire cast of wooden actors? Spoons with smiling faces drawn on would do better. Oh, and the directing? It's difficult to describe how poor it was ...
... but it is nothing compared to the script. A million monkeys? Almost certainly and proof that what they produce isn't Shakespeare. It's definitely a future classic for teaching film making in schools but also shows how low the bar is that an AI created film can't be far away.
Anyway, the film is up there with that other howler ... Battlefield Earth. The sort of thing that is worth watching if you can't stomach the Eurovision Song Contest and need something to make the Euros look good.

Hmmm, things I'd like to see include -
1) No separate lines ... treat all people equally.
2) No fast track / staff / diplomatic / global entry lines ... again, treat all people equally.
3)No private airports / public use of military ... again, treat all people equally.
I.e. I want to see the Prime, Home Office and Foreign Office Ministers in a 3 hr queue to get through customs because it would only happen a couple of times and the problem would be solved. If Amazon can build Go stores then this issue can be fixed.
Oh ... and ffs ... get Amazon to build it. Don't go getting one of those 6,000 page £20M specifications for some management consultancy led la la land £5Bn project which they've never built before or have a clue how to do.

1. I'm probably going to regret this but I'm afraid Giles Fraser has a point. To a point. If you take the article as an absolute then it starts to fall over but there's a lot of questions worth asking. (Thread)
2. This is not to my mind strictly a freedom of movement thing and more to do with the welfare state in that it allows people to essentially dump granny on the council and swan off to indulge in whatever selfish pursuits. This extends also to children.
3. I have a friend who quite teaching - the final straw being parents turning up still in their pyjamas with their kids not yet dressed, expecting the teacher to do it for them. Periodically we hear how parent aren't even bothering to feed their kids breakfast.

IF we do leave the EU, big IF, I predict that there'll be a marked tendency for Remainers to Leave the UK, and for Leavers to Remain, stuck here. Losers perpetually banking on Winners to just suck it up, and blithely bail them out, just #May be disappointed. There, I've said it!
Close relatives who departed these shores in the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, 00's, 10's felt they perceived a better future 'elsewhere'. Am beginning to get it, at last! I #May be a slow learner, or just late to awake to the now revealed realities of the UK, and its 'true prospects'.
Of course, there's an easy alternative. Put the latest EU options (realistic ones only, please, including #Remain!) to a new #PeoplesVote - That should inform us as to the current #WillOfThePeople. That'd be a great start! Better late than never!

Being the financial capital through which the majority of € is traded while still keeping the £.

The UK has taken the lead in efforts for EU enlargement. It pushed for the inclusion of Eastern European states. It pushed for Turkey to get its shit together so that it could join (which it made very slow progress with, and has largely been undone by Erdogan)
After #Brexit, the UK will have no influence on EU enlargement. In fact, as setting the EU as a rival, every country that joins the EU will a) strengthen the EU, and b) unravels any trade deals that the UK will have made with that country, isolating it further.
