When Trump imposed tariffs on China EU leaders argued it was destructive, counterproductive and that there were better ways to get concessions from Beijing. With Trump close to a comprehensive new framework and the EU unable to even get China to change language let alone actions
That theory is in crisis
But what really strikes me is we are approaching a new Commission, who needs a mandate on how to deal with China (dovish, hawkish?), but during EU elections that is never discussed, no candidate offers a plan and there will be no mandate
Compare that to the US where Trump defended a certain view which won and was then apllied with a strong popular mandate
In the EU Weber and Timmermans go around talking about I know not what, afraid to raise every big issue and of course no one will vite forvthem, let alone a China policy. An extraordinarily flawed democracy.
The EU would never be accepted to join the EU on account of its flawed democracy
