This is what a conspiracy theory looks like. When journalists knowingly ask how it was that @Ruptly were first with the #Assange footage - remind them of the following.
Oct 13th 2016, 4th day @wikileaks posted #podesta emails - always at 9am in NY, 1300 in Dublin. at 1200 I asked @ColmMcGlinchey to monitor the site, 20 mins of reverse search later he found several hundred new emails - we had #podesta6 but @wikileaks hadnt tweeted.
Anyone else could have done this - @wikileaks was publishing like clockwork. Nobody looked. We discussed with Newsroom that gazumping @wikileaks would set the conspiracy theorists in motion - but broke the news
Not long after an intrepid US State Dept funded journalist in Ukraine decided this was too much to be true and a conspiracy must be at hand.
His speculation was picked up and powerfully amplified by a senior Clinton campaign staffer - keen to stoke fake #Russiagate conspiracies -
At this stage even @wikileaks pointed out the fully fledged fast-moving conspiracy theory that suited a desperate campaign narrative was bullshit.
The intrepid US govt-funded reporter decided to ignore explanations I had put online and corroborated by @wikileaks explanation and fudge, so his tweet would remain part of the Clinton campaign conspiracy.
And its still online, (links above) still retweeted, because why should they admit they're misleading people? So beware knowing nudges and winks from journalists who claim to have an angle on #Assange & @ruptly or @RT_com - its almost certainly bullshit.
I spoke with @Ruptly head of news today: @barnabynerberka and team had been on a 24/7 Embassy stakeout for a week. Any other news agency could have done this BUT DIDN'T. So when you hear journalists 'asking' - tell them the truth and have them read this rt.com/viral/362696-r…
Oh and here's @ColmMcGlinchey trying to explain to the Clinton staffer that he was amplifying a conspiracy theory with a @RFERL reporter
