The fire isn’t even out and the right-wing apparatus is already planting seeds of a conspiracy theory.
@LisPower1 caught Shep Smith shutting down conspiracy speculation on his show, he’s probably the only host on Fox willing to go that far but you can bet the Tucker’s and Ingraham’s of television will entertain conspiracy-mongering

Jack Posobiec is retweeting comparisons to 9/11, French authorities have yet to release an official statement.
Wohl, Cernovich and Loomer are citing the sentencing of a woman connected to a 2015 terror plot as evidence that todays tragedy was premeditated
Paul Joseph Watson is also onboard the speculation train (shocker), despite a lack of any official statements or evidence that the fire is anything but an accident.
It’s worth noting that Shapiro, Harris and Peters are pushing the “destruction of western civilization” line of thought. Which anyone who follows current European politics can recognize is a clear dogwhistle to European identity movements.
Matt Walsh with a good old “im just asking questions”
QAnon Twitter is kicking off.
Posobiec speculates that if they cant “save” the cathedral they can’t explain the cause of the fire (that’s not how that works but ok). Wouldn’t be surprised if this turns into part of the far right narrative.
White supremacist Patrick Casey is retweeting unverified claims regarding who was in the cathedral at the time the fire began.
Will Chamberlain calling for “Regime Change for France”

Again far-right identitarians will use this to exploit existing tensions in France, and around the globe, for political gain.
We’re at the point where people are comparing this to the Reichstag fire, a catalyst to Hitler’s rise to power, and speculating as to wether its an attempted distraction from the Yellow Vest movement. Again we’re watching the birth of a conspiracy.
And to exactly no one’s surprise, the fear mongering and conspiracy baiting has come home to roost on Fox. You tried Shep.

Michael Savage going full “accidental fire can’t burn wooden things” (h/t @ehananoki)
Richard Spencer being his white supremacist self. Again far right thought is pushing the connection between Notre Dame and racist dogwhistles regarding “western civilization”
This one is quite literally a call to action
