Fundamentalists no different in kind or spirit from those they claim to hate & declaim as 'the other who must be destroyed'...they are them. When their rage starts to occupy the center of the public square rather than being the fringe side show it is, it insinuates itself into
the society, and soon there is nothing but the power & motivations of righteous purity. We are in the opening manifestations of the contemporary edition of this all too human frailty. The Brownshirts are on the rise. And everything is subject to its passionate fires and flames

And they are also a barometer. What that barometer indicates to me is that a storm is coming. It is gathering forces, and the old ways of meeting such forces - logic, rational argument, an appeal to common values, an appeal to life, values & principles once held as axiomatic
truth is being eroded and supplanted by something that has its own logic, rules, values and vision.
[A side note: It is just this force that is the reason for the strong rejection of the liar D Trump. While in certain ways he is effect not cause, he is the current visionary of this tribe.]
We will escape the inevitable conclusions of the recurrent historical pattern if we do not too easily dismiss such nonsense as this as simply a laughable joke. It is. It may also be something else.
