The arrogance of these Democrats is breathtaking. Christians voted for Trump in 2016 precisely because they know they need protection from Dems who claim to know their religion better than they do, and will use the power of the State to enforce their interpretation of scripture.
Furthermore, people who aren't very religious correctly saw Trump as a shield against the arrogance of Obama's control-freak, utterly incompetent super-state. Trump has ego to spare, that's for sure, but he's not ARROGANT like the Obama Dems.
People listen to Trump's speeches, in 2016 and today, and they don't hear him announcing what everyone else MUST do, which was one of Barack Obama's favorite rhetorical tics. They don't hear him co-opting religion and morality in the service of the State, as Obama constantly did.
Obama and his party were, and remain, positively giddy with the prospect of using raw government power to reshape the American people. Every single nutty idea they entertain is a chisel intended to shape the crude and unworthy stone of the deplorable population.
As an Alinsky disciple, Obama was very big on the idea of using Christian ideas as a cudgel against Christians. He CONSTANTLY hectored them with demands they must submit to his statist ideas or else prove themselves "hypocrites" for talking about love and charity.
You don't get any of that "fundamentally transforming America" messianic garbage from Trump. He never talks about the American people as square pegs that must be hammered into round holes with trillion-dollar policy mallets.
I'll take Trump's blustery egotistical style over the profound, determined, and dangerous arrogance of a Barack Obama or Pete Buttigieg any day of the week. I never anticipated it would fall to Donald Trump, of all people, to teach the political class a lesson in humility. /end
