I have a Devin Bush thread here for you #Steelers fans to take a look at. Currently have 14 plays cut up from my extensive tape study on him that stood out to me. Hope you'll work through this thread with me.
Bowl game against Florida. Shoots up into line, stays relatively clean and finds the football for the TFL.
One area of concern I have with Bush is his ability to consistently stay clean in traffic. Bodied here by Ohio State OL. Stunned backwards and wiped out of the play. Important for him to stay clean with smaller stature.
Probably my second favorite play from Bush, and it was nowhere near the ball. Instincts and awareness here. Knows the crossing route is coming. Won't let the receiver slip across formation late. Blows him up.
BY FAR my favorite play from @_Dbush11. Showed me all I needed to see from a coverage standpoint. Identifies vertical route from Parris Campbell out of the slot. Flips hips, turns and runs underneath the route and gets a hand on the football to break up the pass.
At home against Cincinnati. Great eyes to see into the backfield, slip the block and make the sound tackle for a short gain. He misses this, the UC back might still be running.
A bit late here to get into the flat and run with the Ohio State running back after getting slightly picked. Bush has great athleticism, but I think the scheme put him in a spot to fail.
Bush will make an impact as a blitzer right away. Dip, rip, bend the corner for the sack.
A bit clunky here shifting weight in coverage, leading to an easy pitch-and-catch.
Not a big fan of Bush in coverage against TEs. Tries to get physical here with Pat Freiermuth, ends up giving up an easy pitch and catch. Rather see him use his athleticism instead of trying to get physical in these situations.
Love the way he flows laterally here, works through some garbage and flies downhill for the stick against Florida.
This play showed his film study and preparation to me. Knows right away what's coming and blows up this screen.
One of the few tackles I saw him miss. Can see the small stature come into play here against a bigger back. This isn't much of a concern for me overall. Just thought I'd point it out.
Watch the range here. Whew. Covers a ton of ground to end up breaking this pass up after initial catch.
Again, Bush is going to be a great blitzer right away. Good, low pad level and strength to run under and around blockers. Won't quit in pursuit either.
