This time it's a current Labour councillor and chair of a Fire & Rescue Authority.

Meet Cllr John Edwards.
John is apparently "allergic to bigots" according to his Twitter profile. As someone who suffers from an autoimmune disease I may have some advice for him.

Anyway, what do we know about John?

Well, this is his reaction to a report about @rabbisacks 's concerns over Cobyn.
And this was John's response to calls to suspend Wavertree CLP - whose CLP Chair promotes Rothschild conspiracy theories.
Again, John defends the antisemitic attacks on @lucianaberger from her former CLP
This Lab councillor defends MP Chris Williamson after he was suspended for antisemitism.
Lab Cllr John Edwards propagates categorically false conspiracy theories alleging that Israel uses chemical weapons against Palestinians.
Which is presumably why he so strongly opposes the IHRA definition of antisemitism.
Cllr John Edwards has eager to promote fake news about the antisemitic abuse suffered by Jewish Labour MP @margarethodge
Finally, all of the above is now helpfully explained/contextualised by this tweet from Labour Cllr John Edwards, Chair of the West Midlands Fire & Rescue Authority.
This was John's response to a visit to Auschwitz by then PM David Cameron.
This poisonous tweet by a Lab councillor is a clear breach of the IHRA definition and seeks to draw a direct equivalence between the Holocaust & the Israel/Palestine conflict.
I am calling on @tom_watson to intervene and for the immediate suspension of @JohnEdwards33

Long thread on where #LabourAntisemitism ends.

Today my wife and I went to shul (that’s what we call synagogue – using the Yiddish word). Our shul has a very small but committed & friendly congregation & is in a city with a tiny Jewish population.
The once vibrant Jewish community in that city has long since departed, leaving us with a beautiful, unusual but often almost empty 19th century synagogue.

When we arrive for services we are always greeted by a policeman.
The synagogue & congregation have suffered threats and worse in the past so the police presence is welcome. We are thankful to the police for their care & they are fine & firm friends of the synagogue.
But today when we arrived (minutes late) we were greeted by 4 police officers.

Short thread on #LabourAntisemitism

This week sees the start of Passover, so naturally we Jews do some thinking about the nature of our particular situation and history.
This year, as in the last 4 years, my thoughts turn to the current wave of anti-Jewish racism from the Left.
For all sorts of reasons, I’ve had to put my fight against the racists on the Left on the back burner recently. But this week I decided to have a brief look at the social media profiles of some Labour councilors/candidates to see what the mood was.
Obviously, I have come across a couple of obsessive haters of all things Jewish and Israeli. These will be reported via the appropriate channels.
I’ve also come across a good few who, whilst not obsessive & not overtly racist, parrot the simplistic “Free Palestine” mantra.

Yesterday I found myself publicly attacked (using my name) along with @GnasherJew @mishtal @EuanPhilipps and @emmacpicken and @LabourAgainstAS . You may have seen @adammaanit ’s excellent and moving thread on this.
My crime appears to be that I have relentlessly called out Left wing antisemitism since 2014 (that’s way less time than many others, I know).

The main attack yesterday came from a prominent Jewish and Left wing lawyer. I won’t speculate on his motivations.
But the effect of his attack has been corrosive and damaging in multiple ways. He will know this.

Whilst I will admit to being upset and hurt by this attack (one based on untruths, half-truths and toxic spin), it’s nothing new.

We concentrate on the statistics, how the Jewish community overall feels, the processes and the challenges.

The Jewish community made it clear and simple to Labour: pass the IHRA definition in full – no caveats, no compromises. Jeremy Corbyn and the Momentum-dominated NEC have just failed the most basic test.
