I’m at the police station reporting a hate crime after being escorted by police. I’m physically ok, mentally and emotionally shook up.
This lady just attacked a few Jewish women at the park, after threatening to “fuck up all them Jews”. She came over, looking straight at me — and I ran out the way — and she went on to attack other Jewish women. This is her leaving as I was talking to 911.
As I ran out of the way and she attacked other Jewish women, one said to me “Go hit her!”. I opened my eyes real wide and replied — I’m not getting in a fight. You think she needs to be hit back, go and do it yourself!
I’m guessing this is why the NYPD took the incident in the park seriously. #AntiSemitism
It just occurred to me that I was threatened, and witnessed other Jewish women assaulted today — on Israel’s birthday. I know a lot of y’all have criticism of the Jewish State and the IDF, but what you don’t know — is what it feels like as a Jew to have an army fights back.
Just got off the phone with the @NYPDHateCrimes unit. Turns out the perpetrator called 911 herself to report her stroller was stolen. I told the officer that being upset about a stroller is one thing, targeting Jews as your scapegoat is antisemitism.
Ok. So a lot of people are demanding the NYPD crackdown on crime and racist attacks. While I agree that perpetrators should be held accountable for their actions, once a person commits an antisemitic hate crime — it’s already too late. The bigotry runs deep.
What I mean is, communities need to come together and learn about their neighbors history, fear and pain. Educating each other on the past to build a better future. Otherwise, this is bound to happen over and over again.
