Riddle me this, @ninaandtito and @SaysDana, but what if all those 2013-2016 planning & scheming about building a Trump Tower in Moscow was really code for building another hotel project: ⬇️
It was also in 2013 when GSA awarded Trump the building contract. The renovations of his new hotel were completed in September 2016 - right before he won the presidential election.
So let's say you're Russia. And you are under lots of pesky financial sanctions by the US. And you need a way to get your $ in/out of that damn US banking system.

Wouldn't having a maximum-load washing machine in America's Capitol make so much more sense than Moscow?
Cue in Trump's financial backers who told GSA their names had go be redacted of the contract docs.

Uh. Huh. Nothing to see hear

(no pun intended).

Cue in Deutsche Bank ⬇️
Yes, we are supposed to believe that Trump Corp beat out Marriott, Hyatt & Hilton - to win the Old Post to turn into a hotel.

But of course Trump won the GSA contract, proposing a very high on-average/nightly rate.
Steven Pearlstein from @WaPo calculated that Trump’s plan would have to charge around $750/night to deliver what they proposed in their bid.

That was once quite steep for DC.

Not today though.
