Seems the DOJ has asked to disqualify Huawei's lead defense lawyer from the case! If you think that is big, it gets bigger! Motion is sealed & classified, with a public version due tomorrow. Huawei was under US surveillance, explaining the classification! scmp.com/news/world/uni…
The bigger news is the attorney, James M. Cole was Obama's Deputy Attorney General of the United States from 2010-15. Wonder what he did in classified communications intercepts to have the DOJ move to disqualify a former DAG from representing a Chinese intelligence front company?
Cole was apparently a controversial appointment when Obama nominated him in May of 2010, because the Senate would not move on his confirmation. Obama gave him a recess appointment in December of 2010 & Senator Harry Reid pushed through a cloture vote to get him confirmed in June.
Cole later issued the approval for DOJ & FBI to subpeona the records of the Associated Press to go on a fishing expedition looking for anti-Obama leakers. AG Holder was recused on that case making Cole the Acting AG in the case. theatlantic.com/politics/archi…
The investigation was part of the Obama NSC leak witch hunt that was run by then NSC staffer John Brennan before he headed over to CIA.
That leak hunt lead to a lot of spying upon reporters especially in the run up to the 2012 election.
Cole was also linked to a 2012 effort to get the DEA to back off prosecution of opiod manufacturers. I am sure this is linked to all the recent charges & convictions of opiod companies & CEOs.
Even the Washingtop Post recognized something went wrong at the DEA during the opiod epidemic. They had no idea it was Obama's Deputy AG that might have been the problem. That & firing DEA leaders who resisted that obstruction of justice.

Yeah, having the DOJ effectively protect opiod drug smugglers in expensive suits is not going to go over well with the electorate. Leaving DOJ to work for Chinese intelligence front Huawei is not going to look good either. #ButNothingsHappening

Obama Admin Treasury officials were colluding with Russian spies & organized crime figures in 2015. Treasury officials later set up back channels to funnel dirt on Kremlin opponents to Russian intelligence figures through g-mail accounts. Did the Russians give back dirt on Trump?
It may be likely that the Steele Dossier was the dirt the Obama Admin got back for illegally colluding with the Kremlin.

FINCEN may have been protecting a variety of Russian targets from sanctions. Some of their personnel tried to oppose the sanctions against Oleg Deripaska. Their backdoor connections to the Russians & others have been the subject of discussion for months.

This charge relates to other pieces of the puzzle in many ways. Pras was involved in an effort to influence Trump to kill the #1MDB investigation. That effort included a DOJ lawyer assigned to support Congress & Republican Fundraiser Elliot Broidy.
Broidy is part of both the DC Swamp & the Hollywood Swamp. He was co-chair of the RNC finance committee & was probably a target of Michael Cohen's FBI stings.

Yep #MoneyLaundering disguised as contracts & invoices. We have seen this before, but looks like they have the receipts! Looks like the bank has flipped and is cooperating making that much easier to do!
This links into corruption cases in a dozen Latin American countries. This started out of Comey lead efforts in 2014 to go after #MoneyLaundering to Swamps around the world. US cases are being run out of SDTX & SDFL. I imagine Texas juries won't be kind to Swamp creatures...

The DOJ filed a motion to bar #Huawei's defense lawyer James Cole from repping Hauwei in the DOJ's case against them.

James Cole is currently a partner at #SidleyAustin and was formerly Deputy Attorney General from 2011 to 2015 in #Obama's administration.
DOJ didn't say why they wanted him off the case, but while he was Deputy AG, the US government was collecting info & looking into if/how Huawei was violating US sanctions by doing business with #Iran.
BTW.....Sidley Austin is where Obama met Michelle. They also lobby for #China's spying outfit #Hikvision.
