This conference has concentrated on the synergies between education and artificial intelligence, including to advance innovation in and expanded opportunities for education.
China appears to be ahead on the U.S. in actively pursuing not only education for AI but also the application of AI to education, even at the primary and middle school levels.
By 2020, China's Ministry of Education plans to have launched at least 10 smart education demonstration zones that are intended to 'lead the education revolution in the intelligent era.'
In 2018, the Ministry of Education also released a plan for AI in higher education, which had set the objective of having 50 institutes for artificial intelligence and cross-disciplinary research and education also by 2020.
