Economic illiteracy is frankly a disease.

Economic illiteracy qualifies to be given a place on the List of Deadly Diseases stagnating our country and continent.
We cannot tackle pernicious Poverty while proudly wearing Economic illiteracy as though it were a beautiful garment.

One of the plans I had, running for President, was to launch a Public Economic Literacy Program so we all can at least understand the Basics of what happens in an Economy. 📚

We need this badly to build a measure of understanding for a menu of mandatory economic policies.✍🏾

Take the Rice Policy as an example. Basic economics has been at play, frustrating the Policy makers. What Fiscal Policy stance do you take on a commodity on which the barriers to cost competitiveness are stacked against your people? That’s the kind of question that leads right.

There are a few things that are as upsetting to me as Bad Economic Policies in a world where we now have a Body of Evidence on what works and what is an absolute No No because of their harmful effect.

Classic snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Then the poor suffer most.

For as long as Policy Makers choose Politically expedient policies over & above Sound Economic Policies an Economy will suffer from all manner of Distortionary Impact.

That sets the stage for the ultimate “one-pound-no-balance” that hits the people cos no Economic Expansion✍🏾

Basic analytics of latest Growth Data-2% &Population Data-2.7% make it easy to understand. One is higher than the other. Sadly, the one that should be higher has been trailing the one we should go slower on. The effect is therefore that on a per capita income basis, we’re poorer.

Please help advise any of your fellow citizens cheering the 2% Quarter 1 GDP Growth to stop.

Such Economic Illiteracy should not be widely broadcast to the rest of humanity. ✍🏾✍🏾
