If Congress has only funded (and authorized) 45,000 detainees (which is itself abhorrent) where did ICE get the money for the additional 7,000+ beds?

When asked about WHY ICE has soooooo many immigrants locked up--a record number, when this is not a record you ever want to or need to break--they offered this canned response (which has been repeated so often I could say it in my sleep, & which I thus deem entirely meaningless.)

It would behoove an oversight committee to look into any conflicts of interest, imo.

They even REQUIRED ICE, in the last budget, to stick to their current level of detainees, and ICE defied Congress AGAIN.

You know, to show them they mean business. That you can't just defy Congress and get away with it.
