And you're still not drawing the right distinction between European and Westminster elections.

Like I said yesterday, people vote for Fartage in Europe because they've been told the European parliament is a joke. A dummy parliament.
Basically, when Englishmen vote for Nigel Farage, they are voting to piss on the European parliament.
And they will never piss on Westminster.
If that's what motivates people to vote, you can't stop them. But however popular Nigel Farage thinks he is, and the BBC pretends he is, he will never win a seat in Westminster. With or without Brexit.

Leadership candidates will say all sorts of things to get elected that goes straight out the window after.
The chances of anyone leaving Europe with "no deal" are about zero.
It's not going to happen. You can say that shit, but you can't dance to it.
A fairly small pocket of MPs want that, or think they do. But the vast majority, no.
Parliament has already proved willing to legislate to prevent it.

And it doesn't even end there because in the general election this autumn the SNP are going to put a new referendum in their manifesto.
Theresa May's resignation was only the first step.
The next step is that the Tories have to realise that pursuing Brexit any further will destroy the country
Nobody can "deliver Brexit"

But what you can do is destroy the country in the attempt.

So, aiming to get a new leader before summer recess.

Problems for the new Tory leader

1. DUP agreement expires at summer recess

2. New Queen's speech in September

3. Brexit extension expires October 31st
The Tories still having no majority, and no chance of approving any withdrawal agreement, they will be forced into a general election.
The only manifesto that can win an election is a referendum to revoke Article 50.
I'm going to carry on that the rest of what I said turns out to be true as well.

After sacking Theresa May the Tories abandon Brexit, and win a general election to that effect some time in the autumn.

And having lost two general elections, Jeremy Corbyn is finally sacked.

Speaking personally, there was a time in my life when I had not voted more times than I had voted, and I still don’t dismiss the idea that there will be elections where I choose not to vote again.
The tribalism in party politics often puts me off, and I've often just wanted to get on with my life and let the people who like to get involved with politics get on with it.

@AstorAaron @TheAtlantic @davidfrum That may feel good. In reality, the problem is US. It's apathy. We complain or sit out because we don't get our way. Congress is elected by US. If voter participation is < 50%, we deserve the congress we get. Unless we take power with 60-70% participation, it stays as is #vote.

1. Only have elections every two years
2. This includes all local ones too - city council, school board, etc
3. Make sure that local elections are in the same years as national ones
4. Then get out and vote every 2 years - no excuses!

1. 2020, we need to control the states that will give us the majority of the electoral votes
2. This means we need to win governorships and state legislatures
3. So we can determine redistricting
4. Be inclusive/aware of demographic trends for redistricting.
