The biggest focus area for #autismawareness should be awareness of the principles embodied in the #CRPD.

Do #nothingaboutuswithoutus.

While you exclude both speaking and non-speaking autists from your decisions, you commit human rights abuses whether you realise it or not.
If people in the autism industry stopped violating the #CRPD, we would see:

- the end of harmful practices and substances masquerading as therapy and (ABA, Le Packing, MMS etc.)

- autistic people driving the priorities of autism research

- nonspeakers' access to communication
We have to stop excluding nonspeakers' inputs from these conversations.

Making them the excuse for not listening to autistic people who speak, while you pay ZERO attention to THEIR actual words means you respect neither group.

It's about a month from #Apraxia Awareness Day.

I have a challenge for #ActuallyAutistic people: Raise awareness of apraxia.

Why? Because apraxia is VERY COMMON among autistic people and VERY SELDOM recognised.

The behaviour of apraxic autists is often (mis)treated using ABA.
There are several types of apraxia. Apraxic autistics often call their type of apraxia "the body-mind disconnect" or the "brain-body disconnect".
This type of apraxia is different from just having problems with pronunciation or with accuracy of movement. With autistic apraxia, you may end up doing or saying a COMPLETELY different thing from what you intended.

Recently, we went #mattress shopping. After many trials (choosing a mattress is crazy stressful!) zeroed in on and placed an order at a prominent brand's store. It was a beautiful #memoryfoam mattress. I was drooling thinking of all the glorious #sleep I'd soon be getting. 2/n
I have had horrible body ache for years now thanks to our old #mattress that was handmade in Mumbai. I was so excited about buying this amazing new mattress that I did what anyone in my place would: obsessively Google memory-foam mattresses. 3/n

"28 days in Feb we had over 66,000 apprehensions. During this fiscal year, so far today since October we have had over 268,000 apprehensions so far, as compared to the same timeframe last fiscal year, that's a 97% increase."

If you have an issue and want to talk about it, that's fine. I am 100% here for it!

However, if you are yelling and calling my wife and I names within a minute, you didn't want to talk. You wanted to put me in line. That's #abuse.
Me having been cautious with you, when you have a history of doing this, isn't a betrayal. Me refusing to put up with it anymore isn't a betrayal.

Refusing to let you hurt and control me isn't a betrayal. Even if you were used to it working on me.
"You did change when you came out as trans after all!" Yeah, I guess I did. I've started to value myself. If that upsets you, that's a you problem.

"You're everything wrong with the trans movement!" Look, if you think not wanting to be yelled at all the time is bad, get help.

First, my stream art. My art usually starts somehow based on a @streamlabs theme, even if only for inspiration or to make my custom CSS/JS a lot easier to wrangle. The text is usually done w/ custom browser sources. For more info on Streamlabs OBS visit streamlabs.com/slobs/d/103698…
For custom fonts, I override whatever font selection is made via custom CSS. I embed my fonts as base 64 in the CSS thanks to @FontSquirrel's webfont generator. Base 64 seems to perform the best for locally-hosted HTML files with inline CSS even. Probably because no caching.

Joshua was very much a rainbow baby 🌈 and we were so excited and over the moon when I finally made it into the second trimester. (Alex and I are both big rugby fans!)
I was working as a 1st year Registrar in A&E when I suddenly broke my waters at 24 weeks. I was transferred to Southampton @UHSFT who have a specialist level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. They were wonderful, and did everything they could to stop my labour over Father’s Day.
