Thoughts on @SpeakerPelosi argument against impeachment by @qjurecic. Jurecic speaks to the substance of whether impeachment proceedings are merited. She’s not wrong. And the political argument against impeachment doesn’t make sense either.
Jurecic’s @lawfareblog associate @marty_lederman tries to articulate this argument; it boils down to the risk that an impeachment in the House would be rejected summarily by Republicans in the Senate, Trump would be vindicated, & there’d be a substantial risk he’d be re-elected.
Really? Let’s get out of the way the obvious: there are unknowns in an impeachment proceeding. There are also unknowns in a 2020 campaign if impeachment never happens. Why could Trump not claim triumphant vindication if Democrats shrink from impeachment?

Gerrymandering thread by @mcpli of @nyulaw. The Supreme Court will rule on partisan gerrymandering cases within weeks. Li tries to predict its direction, & suggests a split ruling as a strong possibility. Court would be writing, he says, on a “blank slate.” 1/3
2/3. It hasn’t ruled on constitutionality of partisan (as opposed to racial) gerrymandering before. With no Court precedent and complicated issues, outcome is hard to predict. But....when Roberts Court majorities of GOP-appointed Justices have ruled on cases affecting...
3/3....the Republican Party’s electoral position, they have generally taken the GOP’s interests into account, going back to Shelby County and Citizens United and continuing w/more recent rulings like Janus. That’s not cynicism; that’s the record.

Interesting thread by McGill professor @jtlevy. He asks: why, when US politics seems closely divided, does each side seem to be planning for what they’d do after winning a supermajority? Are they?
2. I’d argue some political and social liberals are; most conservatives are not. Conservatives, anticipating minority status in national politics, are using a temporary political ascendancy to shift law-making power from the legislature to the judiciary.
3. This is more significant in terms of protecting concentrated economic power from the public sector than in terms of laws pertaining to social mores, though it clearly impacts the latter. But concentrated economic power resists compromise — that’s how it became concentrated.

#Thread 1/ Today's a day when I think a lot of people are going to be discussing and critiquing #journalism Since I've been teaching the subject for quite some time now, here's some things I tell my students about their relationships to public officials.
2/ The first rule of #journalism, even in the @spj_tweets code of ethics, is to "seek truth and report it." Sources of truth don't always want it shared. Everyone wants to look good, and when people have chosen to do bad things, they don't want you to expose them.
3/ A side #ProTip for newsmakers: The best way to avoid unfavorable coverage is to not do bad things. It's not 100%, but it works a lot better than other shenanigans you try.

Taking money in this movement can hurt a person's credibility because people will start to view them as a business. Reaching out can then be viewed as marketing. Shares, likes, hits and views are then looked at as gains.

A person making money off the movement does not turn them into a bad person. Disinformation does. If they are spreading the truth, thats all that matters. There are a lot of Patriots that want to support the work of Patriots they look up too

The first issue for me have been: I did not know my camera well and what it can do.
Almost any camera can do at least a nice astro landscape.
With the right settings, you could even capture the milky way with a high-end smartphone.
